Store Manager

Sport Thoma is currently hiring a year-round, full-time Store Manager for our Bethel, ME and East Burke, VT locations. Sport Thoma is a premier, six-time Gold Medal award-winning ski and outdoor sports shop chain with retail locations across New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. Established in 1973, we specialize in high-end winter sports gear, ski racing equipment, custom tuning, and summer apparel.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises two or more employees (non-supervisory) and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Additional Responsibilities 

- Reviews, on a continuous basis, the general business climate for the store and adjusts staffing, materials and inventories as needed.
- Establishes and promotes effective internal sales specials on a regular basis.
- Responds to telephone calls and directs customer inquires relating to the management of the store promptly to include servicing wholesale accounts and resolving any problems that arise.
- Maintains the facilities of the store to produce high quality service/products at the lowest possible cost.
- Ensures customers are serviced at the highest level of satisfaction through quality service/products, courteous employees and quick response to needs.
- Follows up on all customer inquiries and/or complaints and establishes conclusions in a timely manner.
- Executes all employee responsibilities as needed to include assisting customers with selection of merchandise and performing all other related duties.
- Performs opening and closing duties on a daily basis such as locking/unlocking store and turning on/off the computer system
- Work as a Team with courtesy and respect for fellow employees.
- Work with new staff to familiarize them with company policies and procedures.
- Schedule staff to meet the needs of the shop as well as maintain appropriate sales to staffing percentages.
- Perform yearly staff reviews.
- Settle/address staff issues.

Qualifications:

- 2+ years previous retail sales management experience required. Specialty outdoor/ski/bike industry retail experience strongly preferred.
- Strong customer service skills.
- POS software experience helpful.
- Motivated self starter with ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work and communicate well with other employees and supervisors.
- Must be willing to work some weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Ability to establish, build and maintain customer relationships.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

Retail Sales Associates

Sport Thoma is currently hiring full time and part time Retail Sales Associates at multiple locations within our company. We are looking for individuals that have a background in retail sales, customer service, and cashiering. This position is responsible for sales of outdoor apparel, equipment and services to our valued customers from start to finish by finding correct products in the store, fitting products to customers, and operating a POS system to complete product transactions. Candidates must have willingness to learn and maintain a working knowledge of our products and brands.

Qualifications:

- Previous retail or sales experience strongly preferred.
- Strong customer service skills.
- POS software experience helpful.
- Motivated self starter with ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work and communicate well with other employees and supervisors.
- Must be willing to work some weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Establish and maintain customer relationships.

Ski and Boot Technician

Sport Thoma is currently hiring full time and part time ski and boot technicians at multiple locations. A ski/ride and boot technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fitting ski and snowboard equipment, including skis, boots, and bindings to ensure optimal performance and safety for skiers/riders by properly adjusting and tuning equipment, key duties include inspecting equipment, making repairs, adjusting bindings, and fitting skis/boards to customers based on their skill level and body type.

Required Skills:

- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of ski equipment mechanics, including bindings, ski geometry, and different ski types.
- Hand Tool Proficiency: Skillful use of tools like grinders, sharpeners, vices, and binding tools
- Customer Service Skills: Ability to interact with customers of varying skill levels, provide fitting advice, and address concerns
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy ski equipment
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring meticulous attention to detail during equipment inspection, repairs, and fitting
